Cape de Coeur: A Love Affair with Elegance and Functionality

Scrolling through Instagram can often be a mindless activity, but every so often, you stumble upon something that stops you in your tracks. For me, that was Cape de Coeur. Amongst the usual updates and friend posts, the image of an elegant and cool rain cape caught my eye. Living in Vancouver, where rain is as much a part of the city as its mountains and ocean, I've accumulated all sorts of rain gear. Yet, I had nothing suitable for a stylish day or evening out when it was raining. Enter Cape de Coeur, and more specifically, The Celestine cape.

The Celestine, adorned with delicate hummingbirds, features a structured collar, a practical hood, and a wide belt. It was love at first sight. The cape seemed to resonate with every facet of my personal style, capable of elevating any outfit. However, it was clear that this unique luxury item would require some saving.

Excited about my discovery, I shared it with a close friend, a former fashion insider in NYC who now works as a photographer in Seattle. She was equally enamoured with the design and functionality of the capes — waterproof, machine washable, breathable, and windproof. A few weeks later, she approached me with a proposal. She wanted to experiment with a new narrative storytelling style in her photography and suggested a photoshoot. She encouraged me to choose items that were significant to me and reflective of my personality. Naturally, she mentioned The Celestine cape and offered to contact the designer, Bettina Mueller Reichl, to borrow it for the shoot.

I was skeptical, but to my surprise, Bettina agreed. The photoshoot was an incredible experience, and The Celestine cape was the star. Wearing it, I felt strong, powerful, elegant, and beautiful. It was a transformative experience, solidifying my desire to one day own this remarkable piece.

And now, that day has come. I am the proud owner of The Celestine cape, a piece that seamlessly blends elegance with functionality, making every rainy outing a stylish affair.
